<p>@ The method and apparatus for applying lengths of stretched elastic ribbon (60) to spaced portions of a substantially non-elastic moving web (70) for disposable products such as diapers includes the use of a rotating drum (10) providing a base surface to support the elastic ribbon (60) and the web (70) in superposed relationship while the ribbon is under tension and the adhesive is setting and various arrangements for severing non-adhered portions of the ribbon by pressing cutting means (40,44) simultaneously against the ribbon and a portion of the width of the web to sever the ribbon without severing the web. The cutting means comprises a cutting edge (40) coacting with an anvil surface (44) between which the ribbon and the web are passed.</p> |
