PURPOSE:To prevent generation of beat interference, etc., when a magnetic head is used for recording/reproducing and as an erasing head in common, by rotating a recording medium at the erasing time at a speed which is lower than that of recording and reproducing time and supplying an erasing signal. CONSTITUTION:Under the erasing mode, the revolving speed NE of a motor 11 is reduced to 1/n of the speed of recording and reproducing time. For instance, a frequency of 2fsc is used as an erasing signal SER and the revolving speed NE of the motor 11 at this time is reduced to 1/3 of the revolving speed at the recording and reproducing time. When the frequency at the erasing time is selected to 2fsc and the revolving speed NE of the motor 11 is selected to 1/3XNR in this way, 3X2fsc in the frequency spectrum of the reproduction time becomes a reproduced erasing frequency and a reproduced erasing signal SEP exists at the outside of the band of a reproduced video signal SO. When the frequency of the erasing signal SEP is high in this manner, the beat frequency with the video signal VO becomes high and no beat interference occurs. Therefore, incidence of beat interference, etc., can be prevented when such an arrangement is used. |
