PURPOSE:To enable a transfer image of high quality to be recorded at high speed on a paper of low surface smoothness, by a method wherein a transfer image is formed by varying a thermal transfer critical temperature of image forming elements and an energizing in signal form for transfer image forming and a uniform energizing for transferring are functionally separated. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 4 is in contact with a heating resistor at the side thereof toward the substrate of a transfer recording medium 1 and is depressed up against the heating resistor by the tension of the medium 1. A high-pressure mercury lamp is disposed opposedly to the heating resistor. The thermal head 4 is controlled by a control circuit 5 so as to be energized to be heated when a mark signal is not present (white), but not when the mark signal is present (black), thus partially rising the melting point of a transfer recording layer to form a transfer image. The transfer recording medium 1 having the transfer image thereon in this manner is carried to a transfer process, then being pinched between a heat roll 8 and a pinch roll 9 together with a transferred medium 10 laid over the transfer recording medium 1 at a transfer image forming surface thereof. Then, transfer is conducted in such a manner as; the ink donner film (IDF) 1 is heated to a temperature Tr meeting Tg0 (thermal transfer critical temperature) < Tr < Tg' (thermal transfer critical temperature after change) to separate the transfer image therefrom, thus resulting in a recording image 12 transferred on the transferred medium 10. |
