A small, reliable and relatively inexpensive means of providing a fast response time in semiconductor charge transfer device imagers is afforded by fitting in the device a radioactive light source to illuminate the charge transfer medium to an extent sufficient to bias it to "fat zero" if it is a SCCD or "slim zero" if it is a BCCD. |
