摘要 PURPOSE:To realize engine control for enhancing fuel economical efficiency and power, by enabling the detection of an air/fuel ratio not only in a lean region but also in a rich region by reversing the polarities of electrodes provided to both surfaces of a solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An air/fuel ratio detector 13 is formed from an air/fuel ratio sensor 28 and a theoretical air/fuel ratio sensor 29 and both of them are attached to the interior of the cover 43 having an exhaust gas inlet 40 and exhaust gas outlets 41a, 41b. In this case, a current is supplied to the air/fuel ratio sensor 28 by an electric circuit 17 and a sensor signal 17b is taken out. In addition, by reversing the electrode of the current supplied to the sensor 28 by a relay circuit 27, both A/F ratios of a lean region and a rich region can be detected. Therefore, the effects of the enhancement of fuel economical efficiency and power enhancement can be freely selected by an operational state and engine control for performing both of them is realized.
