DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC TOOL REPLACEMENT ON A LATHE

A tool changing attachment for a lathe includes a cross-slide 2 mounting in a tool magazine 8 by way of a magazine slide 6; the magazine having a plurality of tool housings 18 which, in use, hold internal machining tools 11. A disc turret 4 is mounted on the slide 2 for pivotal movement about the axis of the turret 4 and carries a plurality of external machining tools 9. Two clamping devices 10, which carry internal machining tools 11, are arranged on the disc turret 4 diametrically opposite one another. A thrust piston drive for the axial transfer of the internal machining tools 11 between the disc turret 4 and the tool magazine 8 is mounted on the slide 6 which supports the magazine 8 and its drive 7. The disc turret 4 and the tool magazine 8 are so arranged relative to one another that, in use, one clamping device 10 of the disc turret 4 is aligned with a tool housing 18 of the tool magazine 8 in the changing position for a programme-controlled transfer of an internal machining tool 11.
