PRODUCTION OF BENT PIPE HAVING COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION

PURPOSE:To exable mass production of a bent pipe having a composite construction formed internally with a ceramic layer by a simple method by connecting the same diameter parts of two bent pipes, packing a thermit agent therein, and causing a thermit reaction while rotating the juncture thereof. CONSTITUTION:The same diameter flanges 2 of two bent pipes 1 are connected via an annular packing 3 made of a graphite plate. A heat resistant sleeve 5 having a round hole on the bottom is fitted to the bent part which is not concentrical and is bolted at the flange part 2. A thermit agent is packed in the concentrical part which is then placed on receiving rolls 4 for driving, and the circumferential part is pressed by several sets of press rolls 4'. The concentrical part is rotated by the revolution of the rolls 4 to cause a thermit reaction, then the molten thermit is deposited to the inside wall of the pipe thereby forming a ceramic layer. The untreated part of the pipe 1 is similarly connected and the ceramic layer is formed by the thermit reaction. The mass production of the composite bent pipe is thus made possible by the simple method.
