The invention relates to walking frames or walkers, it makes it possible to adjust the width thereof and to increase the stability thereof. The apparatus comprises two trapezoidal parts 1 and 1 bis, a rigid part 2 hinged around axes 3, four telescopic extensions 4, a telescopic transverse bar 5 fixed to a bar of the trapezium by coverings 6. A rubber foam lining 7 covers the top of the apparatus. The whole of the apparatus is mounted on rubber feet 9. Amongst the most important applications of the invention, reeducation of the physically handicapped and a walking aid for the elderly can be mentioned. <IMAGE>
