The appliance, for trans-loading goods from ships using grabs, comprises a gantry-type frame, with a bunker let into it and a doube-guide-rod luffing system set up on it. The base point of the pressure guide rod (8) is mounted adjacent the water-side support (4). The tension guide-rod (12) is prolonged beyond its mounting point (13). Cable roller attachments (14,15) for deflecting the hoist cables (19), are mounted in this prolonged section. A tooth segment (17), also mounted there, is in connection with a power-driven pinion (18) on the luffing gear.
