The present invention relates to an instrument enabling adhesive tapes to be applied. It comprises a housing 3 in which the tape 4 is fixed. This housing is fitted with two arms 1 and 2 which are located on either side of a slit 8 via which the tape exits. The arm 1 serves for applying the tape on its backing and for cutting it. The arm 2 serves for fixing the end of the tape at the end of the operation. The combination of the arms 1 and 2 enables the instrument to be correctly positioned in order for the adhesive bonding to be performed rapidly and accurately. Amongst the most interesting applications of the invention, mention may be made of the adhesive bonding of envelopes, packets, packages, the laying of borders in building and in industry. <IMAGE>
