PURPOSE:To suppress the total power consumption by monitoring the state of plural current supplying circuits and estimating the total power consumption, and switching a feeding characteristic to a low power consumption characteristic when the total power consumption is excessive. CONSTITUTION:A current supplying circuit 6 functions to supply a current to a telephone set 3 and also monitors the states of subscriber lines to send an output to a signal terminal 8 and changes a feeding characteristic according to input information from a signal terminal 9. A control circuit 7, on the other hand, receives the signal from the output 8 of each circuit 6 as an input signal to estimate the power consumption of (n) units of circuits 6 from those signals, and sends a signal to the terminal 9 according to whether the power consumption exceeds a set value or not. Thus, the circuit 7 switches the feeding characteristic to a low power consumption characteristic when the total power consumption is excessive. Consequently, the total power consumption is suppressed to a low value even in case of general calling to facilitate the heat design of the device. |
