Operating rod connection for vehicle hydraulic braking cylinder

The hydraulic braking system uses a main cylinder (1) with a piston (2) inside, incorporating a recess (5) into which fits the head (8) of an operating rod (6). This rod has a connection (7) at the other end for a pedal operated by the driver of the vehicle. The inner end (9) of the head is spherical and behind it is an enlarged zone (11) retained behind a locking washer (12). The outer end of the cylinder has a groove around the inside, into which fits the washer. This washer is C-shaped and has a set of three tongues (15) projecting inwards and sloping at an angle to support the enlarged zone of the head.
