The present invention relates to a device for regulating the flow rate of waste water in a syphon. A syphon 10 constituted from three sections 12, 13, 14 with different inclinations and intended to go around an obstacle such as a water course 11. In order to maintain a flow rate greater than a demanded value Vo inside the syphon and thereby to prevent the depositing of solid residues, the useful cross-section of the flow channel inside the syphon is modified. For this purpose, the syphon comprises an elongated element 17 which can be more or less "inflated" by means of an excess pressure obtained by means of a basin 19 with an adjustable water level which is connected with the elongated element 17 by a pipe 18. This device produces a result similar to that obtained in air cushion syphons. <IMAGE>
