A heat-insulating element, consisting of a heat-insulating layer on a metallic outer skin is constructed such that the metallic outer skin overhangs the rigid heat-insulating layer. Since connecting flanges for connecting adjacent heat-insulating elements are fitted on the circumference of the metallic outer skin, during the installation of adjacent heat-insulating elements there remains in consequence an intermediate space between the adjacent heat-insulating layers, which intermediate space is filled with foam using an expanding plastic, by the builder. By selecting a suitable plastic, for example on a polyurethane base, a homogeneous heat-insulating jacket can thus be produced on the object to be insulated, which jacket combines the advantages of prefabrication in the works (precise production, rapid assembly) with the advantages of measures by the builder (compensation for production-related tolerances, taking into account local special features). |
