To prevent inwardly opening house and apartment doors from being opened by pushing back the latch from outside the door, the latch is arranged in the striking plate (on the door frame). The oblique sliding face of the latch is located on the inside of the building/apartment, and the latch cannot be pushed back by the insertion of a rigid article into the gap between the lock (door part) and striking plate (frame part), because an inserted article comes up against the blocking face of the latch perpendicularly. The arrangement of the latch in the striking plate allows a simple and stable design of an electromagnetically actuated door opener which releases the (unlocked) door for opening by pulling back the latch.
