1,132,738. Frost imaging. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec.9, 1965 [Dec.14, 1964], No. 52376/65. Heading G2H. [Also in Division C7] A storage member on which frost images are formed comprises a supported thermoplastic layer (e. g. polystyrene on glass) having a vapourdeposited thereon a surface coating of discreet agglomerated islands. Specified coatings are Sn, Ge, In, Au, Ag, ZnS, K Br, K Cl, KI, Na Br, Na Cl, Be O and Mg O. The frost image is formed by laying down an electrostatic charge pattern on the non-conductive layer and softening the thermoplastic layer. The frost image may be scanned by an electron-gun and the secondary electrons emitted from the member collected; the coating increases the second cross over point of electron emission so that higher scanning voltages may be used. |
