PURPOSE:To maintain the viscosity of an ink in an allowable range for a long period of time, by constantly or periodically evacuating a fixed quantity of the ink from an ink-circulating system in an ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic deflection type ink jet printer is provided with a controlling circuit 8, which controls a power source 9 so that a voltage capable of deflecting ink droplets to an ink-removing gutter 5 is impressed on a charging electrode 2 for a predetermined period of time in each predetermined period. Accordingly, the ink droplets are deflected, all of the deflected droplets are trapped by the gutter 5, are collected into a separately provided ink reservoir 10, and the thus collected ink is removed from the ink-circulating system. |
