PURPOSE:To enlarge the engine room space by providing a pair of bevel gears at the output of transmission and at the input of front def of a four-wheel-drive vehicle having a lateral engine while integrating one of each bevel gears with the transmission shaft for driving rear wheel. CONSTITUTION:Driving force of engine is inputted through a clutch 5 to the input shaft 6 of transmission 3 where it is speed changed properly to rotate the intermediate shaft 24 through gearing between the drive gear 19 of output shaft 8 and the transmission gear 22 and to rotate the transmission shaft 27 through the bevel gears 23, 28. Driving force of transmission shaft 27 is transmitted through gearing of bevel gear 29 of transmission shaft 25 and casing 30 of front def 7 to the short shaft 44 of casing 30 then distributed to the left and right by bevel gears 32, 33 and 34, 35 thus to drive the front wheels. At the same time, if 2-4 exchange sleeve 48 is at the four-wheel-drive position, driving force of transmission shaft 27 is transmitted through sleeve 48, transmission shaft 26, propeller shaft and rear def to drive the rear wheels. |
