The invention relates to a method for recording traffic with sensors on telecommunications lines and is characterised in that the sum of the common-mode currents and the differential-mode currents is evaluated in each case in the double wires of the telecommunications line, and in that the sensor output is blocked when the common-mode sum is greater than the differential-mode sum. The advantage is that an incorrect traffic assessment, which would be caused by high interfering currents, in particular in the case of low useful currents and in the free condition, of the line, is avoided.
