摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent both rust of steel wool and fracture of a friction material by having steel wool impregnated with molybdic acid as an anticorrosive agent. CONSTITUTION:To fabricate this friction material, a basic material consisting of steel wool and asbestos or glass fiber serving as a sub-base and added depending on the kind of a use, bonding material powder, such as phenolresin, friction adjusting agent, such as barium sulfate or graphite and molybdic acid powder are mixed well, using a Banbury mixer, Henshell mixer, a kneader, a V-type blender, a high-speed rotary machine etc. to get a mixed material. This mixed material is filled into a mould, and pressed for preliminary forming in order to obtain a roughly-formed material. Next, the roughly-formed material is placed in a heating mould, and heated and pressed therein for fusion reaction of the bonding agent. Thus, a friction material that is hardened and combined in an integrated body is fabricated. Accordingly, the steel wool used as a basic material is put in inactive state because of molybdic acid compounded in the friction material, and it becomes free from rusting. Thus, fracture in the friction material due to rust occurrence can be eliminated, and a more stable friction material can be obtained.
