For monitoring the traction forces which are exerted on the fetus to be extracted and on the mother animal, and for the purpose of signal transmission when the scientifically established, permitted traction forces are exceeded, a device has been developed which satisfies the modern requirements of veterinary medicine. The device is T-shaped and has on the long arm a movable carriage on the front of which there is a hook, where the birth chains or cords are attached. Situated on the top of the carriage is the digital display, which indicates the particular traction force at which the calf is being pulled. Also situated there is the alarm arrangement in the form of a lamp or an acoustic buzzer or the like, so that the traction force is interrupted when the maximum traction force is exceeded.
