A space heating system employs a length of ductwork which is divided longitudinally by heat-conducting septum (12) into flow and return passages (18,20), which form a circulation loop for flow of a hot gaseous fluid whereby heat exchange can take place between the hotter and cooler gases on each side of the septum (12).
