PURPOSE:To make it possible to prevent the thermal destruction of a dot head, by a method wherein the total numbers of printing dots corresponding to an edited one line are calculated and a printing time is set so as to correspond to the numbers of printing dots per unit time such that a tolerant temp. is not exceeded. CONSTITUTION:At first, printing data corresponding to one line is stored in RAM16 while editing the same by a microprocessor 11 and a printing time is calculated by calculating the total numbers (n) of dots to be stored in the NT memory of RAM16. In the next step, a time, required over a range from a time when the printing of the total numbers of dots corresponding to one line is started to the time when the next one line printing is started, is calculated from the rising in the temp. of a dot head 20 due to the numbers of printing dots per unit time, a room temp. and a rising temp. to be stored in the NT memory and transferred to CT memory when CT is equal to zero. At the same time, printing operation is performed by the dot head 20 while CT memory is operated by the interruption signal of a timer circuit 17 and the printing of the next line is prohibited until CT reaches zero to cool the dot head 20. |
