摘要 PURPOSE:To further reduce the cost without impairing the long life of a face discharge-type gas discharge panel by exposing the surface of writing electrodes arranged on a dielectric layer to a gas discharge space. CONSTITUTION:Discharge sustaining electrodes 32, 33 with adjacent and paired comb tooth sections 32a, 33a are arranged face to face on a lower glass substrate 31 functioning as an electrode support substrate so that individual comb tooth sections 32a, 33a are closely faced each other, and discharge sustaining cells Sc are constituted with individual comb tooth sections 32a, 33a. Writing electrodes 35 are arranged on them through a thick dielectric layer 34 made of low-melting point glass in a direction crossing the discharge sustaining electrodes 32, 33, and writing discharge cells Wc are constituted corresponding to each intersection with one discharge sustaining electrode 32, for example of the discharge sustaining electrodes 32, 33 respectively. The dielectric layer 34 arranged with writing electrodes 35 is exposed to a gas seal gap 37 or coated with only a surface layer 36 such as a thin secondary electron highly-emitting material as shown in the figure.
