PURPOSE:To rapidly and directly perform the analysis of a molten metal component on site, by integrally attaching a pair of discharge electrodes and an optical fiber rod for collecting light in a light emitting chamber while connecting an optical cable having a spectroscopic detector connected thereto to said rod. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber rod 5 is integrally attached to the light collecting cylinder 4 in a light emitting chamber while a pair of discharge eloctrodes 7 are also integrally mounted to the lower part thereof. Said cylinder 4 is protected by an upper and a lower protectively cylinders 2, 3 and an optical fiber cable 6 having a spectroscopic detector 28 connected thereto is connected to the upper end surface of the rod 5. In measurement, the chamber 1 is fallen onto the surface of a molten metal by a lift apparatus 23 and high voltage is applied between the molten metal 25 and a pair of the electrodes 7 to perform discharge while inert gas is blown into said chamber to measure the luminous intensity of exciting light by the spectroscopic detector 28. Therefore, the component contained in the molten metal can be rapidly and directly analyzed on site and this apparatus is extremely useful in operation control. |
