BREAST PROSTHESIS AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME

: The invention provides a breast prosthesis for mastectomy patients and a method of making such prostheses. The prosthesis is made by first making a cast of the entire chest wall of the patient and a separate cast of the remaining natural breast. The breast cast is then shaped to fit onto the chest cast as a replica for the removed breast. The shaped breast cast is then used as a core to form a hollow breast shape in synthetic skin-like material and the hollow interior, after removal of the core, is preferably filled with a liquid or gel material. In this way, a customized prosthesis of the missing breast can be formed without the need for skilled sculpting techniques.
