941,246. Sub-press mechanisms. C. BEHRENS A.G. Sept. 12, 1961 [March 7, 1961], No. 32632/61. Heading B3W. A punch press including a C-shaped main frame has a subsidiary frame secured at its lower end to the lower limb of the main frame and is otherwise free, and a tool head supported by the upper end of the subsidiary frame in the gap of the main frame, so that the subsidiary frame is unaffected by deformations of the main frame. The machine comprises a main frame 1 and a C-shaped subsidiary frame 2 of which only the bottom limb is bolted to the main frame. The frame 2 carries pins 4 and 5 about which tool plates 6 and 7 can index. Each upper tool 14 has a head 15 which engages a recess 16 in the ram 8, which is operated by a rod 18 through a toggle 9. Alternatively the machine may be operated by an eccentric or by an hydraulic ram. The thrust on a stripper plate 11 is transmitted by the punch plate 7 and a pin 12 to the main frame. |
