An air supply tube has a portion extending inside the smoke pipe of a domestic solid fuel furnace. This air supply tube is of smaller diameter than the smoke pipe and has an outlet opening in the smoke pipe in a direction away from the combustion chamber of the furnace and located above said combustion chamber. The air supply tube has an air inlet accessible outside the furnace for connection to a source of pressurized air. The resulting air jet creates a Venturi effect which increases the draft of the chimney, at least during the starting period of combustion of the solid fuel, thereby preventing smoke from filling the room during this starting period.
|
