<p>Case 2712 PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEM WITH SEGMENTED DOMAIN OF THE DISCLOSURE In a control system for use in controlling a variable process, the monitoring signal obtained from a process sensor is resolved into a plurality of signal components of higher frequency, each component being within a selected bandwidth. Feedback correction or modification is then applied to each signal component as required. This feedback correction or modification is readily applied, owing to the greatly simplified form of the respective signal component, as compared with a complex control algorithm for the total combined signal in a prior system control function. The respective feedback components may then be used directly in controlling relation with the process, or may be re-combined to provide a single control signal. Additionally, the segmented signal system may be used in combination with a feed forward compensation circuit in order to lend an anticipation function to the control. Also, predetermined transform functions may be incorporated in order to provide compensation for the effect of stronger corrective feedback of dominant components.</p> |
