PURPOSE:To obtain a high-contrast silver image by using a developing soln. contg. a specified compd., and only a p-dihydroxybenzene type developing agent as a developing agent, and exceeding 11 in pH. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material used for imagewise exposure contains >=95mol% silver chloride prepared in the presence of 10<-7>- 10<-2>mol rhodium salt per mol of silver halide. It is processed with a developing soln. contg. a compd. represented by general formula I and a compd. represented by general formula II or III, and as a developing agent, substantially only p- dihydroxybenzene type developing agent, as well as >=0.2mol/l sulfite ions, and maintained at >=11 in pH. In these 3 formulae, Y is N or methine; Z is N or C; W, W' are each S, O, or imino; V is H; n is 0 or 1; R1 is H, lower alkyl, halogen, or nitro; X is -OH, -CONH2, or the like; and R2 is H or lower alkyl. |
