PURPOSE:To prevent th generation of white smoke and hydrocarbon at the time of low-speed, low-load operation of an engine, by raising the temperature of air at the outlet of a compressor by operating the compressor at the time when the engine is operated under particular conditions. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of the cylinder wall is low, output signals from a pressure sensor PC for detecting the pressure of open air of the pressure of air at the outlet of a compressor MC, a temperature sensor TC for detecting the temperature of open air or the temperature of intake air at the outlet of the compressor MC, a water-temperature sensor WC for detecting the temperature of cooling water and an oil-temperature sensor OC for detecting the temperature of engine oil and all furnished to a controller 4, and then a transmission VT is set at a required transmission ratio on the basis of the above output signals of various sensors. An engine DE drives the compressor MC of a supercharger via the transmission VT and supplies high-temperature, high-pressure intake air into its cylinders 11 from an intake passage IP. |
