PURPOSE:To perform a cleaning operation only at the side of a floppy disk device with no dependence on a user program or a system memory by providing a read-only memory which incorporates a program including a cleaning instruction of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:In a normal mode a switch 2 is set at the ''NORMAL'' side, and thereofre no ''CLEAN'' command is transmitted to a carriage 6 from an ROM4. Instead a ''SEEK'' command 104 is transmitted to a carriage 4 through an AND circuit 12 to perform a normal read/write operation. When the dust is stacked to a magnetic head, the output of the head is reduced to generate frequently reading errors. Therefore the cleaning is required for the magnetic head. In such a case, a cleaning operator puts a cleaning medium into a floppy disk device and sets the switch 2 at the ''MAINTENANCE'' side. Thus an address switch signal 108 is transmitted to the ROM4, and the ''CLEAN'' command of the ROM4 is sent to the carriage 6 through an AND circuit 14. Thus the cleaning is carried out for the magnetic head. At the same time, the transmission of the ''SEEK'' command is cut off at the circuit 12. Furthermore, the transmission of a ''READY'' signal 106 is also cut off at an AND circuit 10. |
