PURPOSE:To prevent the polished face of a metallic sample from rusting to observe the metal surface easily and accurately, by connecting a metallic piece, which has a corrosion resistance higher than that of a metallic sample and has a potential baser than that of the metallic sample, to the metallic sample electrically and burying them in a synthetic resin and polishing both metal surfaces. CONSTITUTION:A metallic sample 2 whose surface should be polished for metallic microscopic observation or the like and a metallic piece 6 which has a corrosion resistance higher than the sample 2 and has a potential baser than that of the sample 2 are buried in a plastic cylinder 1 with a synthetic resin 3 for burying. The sample 2 and the metallic piece 6 are connected by a Cn wire 5 on the side opposite to surfaces to be polished. The sample 2 and the metallic piece 6 are polished to expose the active surface of the sample 2. For example, Zn is used as the metallic piece 6 if the sample is a soft steel. Thus, the surface of the sample 2 is prevented from rusting in a short time with moisture used for polishing. The sample 2 may be buried together with the resin 3 in a cylinder 4 consisting of a base metal, and the cylinder 4 and the sample 2 may be connected by a copper wire 5. |
