发明名称 NICKEL-ZINC STORAGE BATTERY
摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent any deterioration of the characteristic of a nickel electrode by inserting a zinc electrode in a sack-like separator before nickel electrodes are placed outside the separator, and adjusting the upper limits of the liquid levels of electrolytes to be lower than the opening of the separator. CONSTITUTION:After a zinc electrode 3 is inserted in a sack-like separator 7 made of polyethylene or the like, the separator 7 and sintered nickel electrodes 1 and 1' having almost the same shape are installed in a container 5 in such a manner that the electrodes 1 and 1' are located outside the separator 7 and that the separator 7 and the electrodes 1 and 1' are placed alternately. Next, electrolytes 8 and 8' principally consisting of caustic potash are poured, thereby constituting a nickel-zinc storage battery. In addition, the upper limits 9 and 9' of the liquid levels of the electrolytes 8 and 8' are adjusted to be located below the opening 10 of the separator 7. As a result, a zinc compound produced by the dissolution of the zinc electrode 3 in the electrolyte 8' can move only by barely passing through the separator 7, thereby enabling a decreased quantity of the zinc compound to deposit on the nickel electrodes 1 and 1'. Consequently, the life of the battery can be increased.
