PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of a transistor and the malfunction of a circuit by giving a medium potential between the maximum potential and the minimum one to one or more input terminals. CONSTITUTION:In a monolithic integrated circuit composed of a plurality of circuit blocks, one or more of the signal input terminals belonging to one or more of the circuit blocks are fixed at the medium potential. For example, an ECL circuit is composed of an input transistor 53 and a transistor 54 whereto a fixed bias Vbb is given. At that time, the wiring from a chip input terminal 51 is connected to the base of the input transistor 53 via a block input terminal 52, and is connected to the medium potential VT (e.g. -2V) between the maximum potential VCC (0V) and the minimum one (-5V) via a resistor 55 of a higher impedance. Thereby, the impression of a large voltage applied on the junction of the emitter and base of the transistor 53 can be prevented. |
