PURPOSE:To make maintain pressing force to an active material layer until the end of life by stacking glass fiber and impregnating a binder in it and forming concavity with press rollers with projections on its surface. CONSTITUTION:Projections 2 having same dimensions as square shapes of a plate grid are set on the surface of press rollers 1 and 1'. A glass mat impregnated with a binder is passed between the rollers 1 and 1' to form the glass mat, having a thin contact portion 3 to a grid bone, for a lead-acid battery. Proper pressing force is applied to only an active material layer and even if thickness of the active material layer reduced with life reduced, a pressing force to the active material layer is maintained without being limited by thickness of the grid. Thereby, life of the battery is improved. |
