PURPOSE:To improve the beautiful appearance of a casting by coating a specific synthetic resin emulsion on the surface of a consumable casting pattern made of foamed polystyrene thereby smoothing the surface of the casting produced by using such consumable casting pattern. CONSTITUTION:A synthetic resin emulsion, such as an acryl-styrene copolymer emulsion or vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion, having 40-50wt% residue on evaporation, 500-1,000cps viscosity and 6.5-9.5pH is coated on the surface of a consumable casting pattern made of foamed polystyrene used in a full mold method, etc. The surface of said pattern which is corrugated by foam is consumed by half. The casting produced by such pattern has therefore a smooth surface hence improved appearance. |
