PURPOSE:To change all propagation directions of polarization speedily and accurately by disposing a Faraday element between a polarized light source and the incidence end part of a polarization plane conservative optical fiber, and performing electric switching. CONSTITUTION:The Faraday element 13 is disposed between the polarized light source and the incidence end surface 2a of the polarization plane conservative fiber 2 to perform the electric switching. In this case, the Faraday element 13 rotates a plane of polarization according to the intensity of a magnetic field like YIG (ytterium iron garnet) and a coil 12 is connected to a meter 15, electric switch 11, and battery 16; when the propagation direction of transmit signal light is changed from either X or Y to the other, the electric switch 11 is turned on and off. Consequently, all propagation direction of polarization are changed speedily and accurately. |
