PURPOSE:To obtain the titled bathtub that is easy to form heat insulating layer and moreover excellent in integration of a metallic bathtub and the like with the heat insulating layer by a method wherein the metal formed object is heated to a high temperature and inserted into a specific heat insulating object and both are compressed against each other and then the heat insulating object is cooled and hardened. CONSTITUTION:Members to be used are a sheet metal formed object 1 and a heat insulating object 2 that is made up of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer or a blend of this copolymer with another thermoplastic resin and is expanded in such a form that said metal formed object 1 can be inserted into the object 2. First of all, a heater 3 is inserted inside this metal formed object 1 to heat joining places with the heat insulating object 2 and to set the temperatures of these joining places at the softening temperature of the material of the heat insulating object 2. Then, this metal formed object 1 is inserted into the heat insulating object 2 until the former abuts the inside of the latter to soften and melt the joining places inside the heat insulating object 2 and both are compressed against each other and then, the molten places inside the heat insulating object 2 are cooled and hardened to obtain the purposed bathtub and the like by joining and integrating heat insulating object 2 and the metal formed object 1. |
