The object of the invention is connected to the technical field of accessories for bicycles and similar vehicles. The saddle pillar is noteworthy in that the upper flange 5 has, in its central portion, a longitudinal hollowing 5d having a convex bottom and walls which are inclined in order to receive the nut 7 with a rectangular base 7a, whose lateral faces 7b have the same inclination as the walls of the hollowing 5d, so that upon tightening by the screw 3, the nut 7 forms a wedge in the hollowing in order to transmit in equal parts the tightening force to the ends of the upper flange 5 and consequently, to the ends of the lower flange 4, on the one hand, for the firm tightening of the saddle mounting threads and, on the other hand, to allow a limited elastic bending of the cheeks 4b of the lower flange in the direction of the lateral faces 1a of the head, thus reinforcing the tightening effect. The invention applies to all types of bicycle with a saddle mounting with parallel metallic threads. <IMAGE>
