摘要 Sealing arrangement for a pressure transmitting shaft passing through the shielding wall (not shown, at right) of a hot cell for operating manipulating equipment inside the hot cell, is arranged as follows. On the clean side of the cell wall, the shaft (1,3) passes through a fixed end element (8), rigidly connected by a tube (7) to the cell wall. This tube thus forms a tubular housing around the shaft (3). Inside this housing, a flexible tubular bellows (5) is anchored at one end to the fixed component (8) and is secured at the other end to a fixing flange or ring (4b) integrally connected to the shaft (3). A gas supply system (100) feeds and extracts clean gas to both sides of the flexible bellows (5), as the bellows contracts and expands, so that there is never a negative pressure on the outer side of the bellows. Extracted gas can be fed into the hot cell itself. Used for a remotely operated mechanism inside a hot cell, e.g. for shearing or cutting up irradiated nuclear fuel elements.
