Travelling crane for lifting comprising end bearing blocks 3, mechanisms 4, 5 for lifting and translating and a drum 1 for rolling the cable. A support beam 6, fixed pivotably to the bearing blocks 3 is situated immediately beside the drum 1, parallel to the latter. The end blocks are mutually rigidly linked by a non rotary shaft 2 upon which the drum 1 and two load bearing wheels 7 are moreover rotatably mounted. Application to the production of travelling cranes for lifting of small height, light, and whose bearing blocks are not subjected to bending moments. <IMAGE>
