Self-supporting, folding box of parallelepipedal shape constituted by a preassembled assembly made from a single cardboard blank 1 using material with good mechanical strength, such as corrugated cardboard for example, comprising cut-outs and upsets enabling, when the shape is produced, the bottom 1s and two opposite side walls 1b and 1c of the package to be obtained each edged with side strips 5a, 5b and 5c folded square for the purpose of stiffening the dihedrons, the connection between which strips is provided by a tongue 7a, 7b fixed by gluing, which tongue is articulated on the strip 5a by means of one or two upsetting lines 10 produced on its external face starting the folding of the assembly of strips towards the inside of the package during the folding operation of the side walls on the bottom and within the overall dimensions of the latter, which bottom can be mounted integrally with a base element provided with blocks or battens 15 allowing handling by means of forklift trucks, the holding of the side walls in the unfolded position being achieved by the positioning of one or two contiguous side walls 12.
