The invention relates to a warning system which triggers a signal if the vehicle unintentionally leaves the carriageway. Accidents of this type usually occur due to driver fatigue. Since in these cases the vehicle only leaves the carriageway slowly and at a very acute angle, there remains sufficient time for the driver who receives the warning to bring the vehicle to the correct path again by means of a steering correction and to avoid an accident.
