A camera stand equipped with a mechanical rotary drive and assigned electrical valves permits a substantially increased range of use and monitoring concerning use in spaces at risk of fire and explosion, in particular use in underground mining and tunnel construction. The foot of the camera stand is arranged for this purpose in a housing and can be influenced via a mechanical rotary drive which, for its part, can be switched via assigned electromagnetic valves. In this case, use is made as rotary drive of a double-action pneumatic cylinder and a pivoting cylinder of, in principle, the same construction whose axis of rotation is influenced via the piston of the cylinder or pivoting cylinder. While the cylinder can be pivoted by 90 DEG via the pivoting cylinder, which is installed in a fixed fashion, the corresponding foot of the stand, which is also pivoted, is rotated simultaneously or also separately from this by 360 DEG via the cylinder itself. In addition to high reliability, a correspondingly equipped camera stand is characterised by a low space requirement. <IMAGE>
