PURPOSE:To prevent the riding comfortableness of a car from being made worse by moderating any shock caused by controlling the number of operating by controlling the number of cylinders to be supplied with fuel when a driver rapidly operates an engine after the operation range of the engine changes. CONSTITUTION:When the operation range of an engine 1 estimated from respective outputs issued from a negative pressure sensor 13 and a revolution speed sensor 14 stays in a low load and low speed region where the engine revolution speed is less than a prescrived value and the suction negative pressure is more than a prescribed value, and an output from a water temperature sensor 15 is more than prescribed temperature, it is judged that a control circuit 11 is in the state of partial number of operating cylinders. However, when the engine operation is judged to be under the state of stable operation, taking the output of a throttle opening sensor 16 into consideration, the operation of controlling the number of operating cylinders is inhibited. On the contrary, when throttle operation is rapidly performed with a variation rate higher than a set value, an output is issued from the control circuit 11 to an actuator 10, and a shutter valve 9 is closed, allowing cylinders 12, 13 to be out of operation. |
