PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform online measurement and continuous measurement along the entire width and the entire length, by projecting laser light on the anti- corrosive oil applied surface of a steel plate or steel strip. CONSTITUTION:At the output side of an oil applying device 3, a light projector 4 is provided so that it is directed toward the passing surface of a cold rolled steel strip 1. A light receiving device 5 is provided on the path of the reflected light. Based on the intensity and distribution of the reflected laser light, which is received by the light receiving device 5, the amount of oil application at the part where the laser light is projected is instantly displayed on a display part 7. When the light projector 4 and the light receiving device 5 are fixed, the amount of oil application is continuously and intermittently measured in the longitudinal direction with the advance of the steel strip 1, and that is all. When the light projector 4 and the light receiving device 5 are allowed to move in the width direction of the material, the width direction of the material can be measured. When the measurement is combined with the measurement in the longitudinal direction, the entire material can be uniformly measured. Instead of moving the light projector 4 and the light receiving device 5 in the width direction of the material, a plurality of the devices can be arranged in the same direction in parallel. |
