PURPOSE:To compute the surface moisture ratio of the aggregate used in concrete, by injecting an adequate amount of water in a measuring tank having a specified volume, filling the aggegate in the tank, further injecting water to fill up the tank, and measuring the weight at each stage. CONSTITUTION:An adequate amount of water is injected in a measuring tank 6 from a water injecting pipe 21. The weight Wo (g) of the water is measured by load cells 25a and 25b. Then, aggregate is put in, and the weight Ws (g) of the aggregate and the water is measured. The water is further injected and the measuring tank is filled up. The weight W (g) of the aggregate and the water at this time is measured. The surface moisture ratio P (%) of the aggregate to be measured can be computed by the expression P={(Ws-Wo)X(1-1/S)/(W-Wc)- 1}X100, where S is the surface dry specific gravity of the aggregate and Wc (cm<3>) is the volume of the measuring tank. |
