The rake wheel of a haymaking machine is rotatably mounted on an upright shaft 7 supported by a ground wheel 2. The rake wheel casing has a lower portion 31 rigid with the shaft 7, and an upper portion 11 rotatable about 7, the two portions forming a liquid-tight closed casing. Prong carriers 16 carrying rake prongs 17 are rotatably mounted in bearing bores 15 formed in the casing portion 11 and their inner ends are connected each to a cam follower 19 by an arm 18. The follower 19 co-operates with a horizontal cam track 20 of the shape shown. When the casing portion 11 and hence the carriers 16 rotate about the shaft 7, the prongs are in the raking position when the follower 19 is in the circular portion of the track 20, but they pivot upwardly out of raking action during movement over the straight portion 19. The angular position of the track 19 can be altered by a pinion 24 meshing with teeth on the track disc 20<SP>1</SP>. In another embodiment, the cam track is wholly circular in plan but obliquely mounted round the shaft 7. The vertical position as well as the angular position of the track can be adjusted. Both the casings are rotatable together about the shaft 7 and the prong carriers extend radially outwards from the casing.</p> |
