<p>A process and apparatus for recovering the material components of rubber tires, the process including the steps of shredding the rubber tires to a size capable of being transported, heating the shredded rubber pieces in an inert atmosphere to a temperature sufficient to vaporize the heat recoverable components of the tires, condensing the vaporizable components to liquify the oil and ammonia present, collecting the uncondensed gas, and recovering the carbon residue and metal remaining after cooling.
